International Worlds Schools Debate Tournament in Ljutomer

Pozvánka na mezinárodní turnaj ve formě WSDC, který proběhne 1. - 3. prosince 2011 ve slovinském Ljutomeru.

Slovinská debatní asociace zve české debatéry a rozhodčí na mezinárodní debatní turnaj formátu WSDC. Na turnaji proběhne 6 kol debat a vyřazovací kola. Turnaj je doporučujeme také pro začínající debatéry a rozhodčí.

Termín: 1.-3.12.2011 (vzhledem k programu možno přijet již den napřed)
Místo: Ljutomer, Slovinsko
Účastnický poplatek: 60 EUR v případě ubytování v rodinách, 100 EUR (130 EUR při příjezdu již 30. 11.) při ubytování v hotelu. Doprava na místo není v ceně.

Dear all,

Za in proti, zavod za kulturo dialoga and Gimnazija Franca Miklošiča kindly invite you all to our traditional International Worlds Schools Debate Tournament in Ljutomer, Slovenia, 1st – 3rd December 2011

You should plan your arrival on Wensday, 30th October or morning on the 1st of December if your travel is short. The tournament will start on the 1st afternoon.

TOURNAMENT 6 debate rounds, quarterfinals, semi-finals and finals. Please, check the tentative schedule at the end of this message. Debates will be in English in Worlds Schools Debate Format. By team we mean 3 debaters – we will not accept teams with 4 or 5 debaters. Debaters should be accompanied by at least one adult who can also judge – 1 team/1 judge, 2 teams/1judge, 3 teams/2 judges.
Tournament will be power paired, for the tabbulation we are using Rich Edwards computer programme.

MOTIONS There will be 3 prepared and 3 impromptu motions.
Prepared motions:
Round 2: This house would stop sending humans into space.
Round 5: This house believes that the governments should be allowed to disable social networks during civil disorders.
Round 6: This house believes capitalism is an enemy of the ecology.
Quarterfinals: This house believes there can be no peace at Middle East without independent Palestinian state.

REGISTRATION There is a team cap of 40 teams. The registration is open now. Deadline for applications is October 25th. Please, fill the application form – in attachment and send it to debata@siol.net

In the cases of multiple entries from one country and if we need to limit the number of teams we will follow the principles of regional diversity giving the privilege to the teams which are supported by the national debate organisations.

PARTICIPATION FEE
Participation fee for the ones who would like to enjoy the home stays with Ljutomer students: 60 EUR, it covers the food during the tournament and other tournament expences. When sending the application form, please, indicate clearly if you want to be in home stay or in Hotel Jeruzalem.

Participation fee for the ones who would like to stay in Hotel Jeruzalem in Ljutomer:
For 3 nights stay (1st – 3rd December) 100 EUR, it covers 3 nights/breakfast/dinner in 2-bed room and food at the tournament.
For 4 nights stay (30th November – 3rd December) 130 EUR, it covers 4 nights/breakfast/dinner in 2-bed room and food at the tournament.

There is a very limited number of single rooms available, the ones who would like to enjoy the privacy of a single room need to pay additional single room cost in clearly indicate they would like to have a single room.

Participation fees should be paid in cash upon arrival.

Tab will be run by Peter Mesarec and Aljoša Polšak who have considerable experience with running tournaments.
